Hello everyone,My name is Ken, I'm from Vancouver, Canada.
I have been in Japan for about 10 months now.Things here are really different from Canada. People are so polite and also friendly. One of things I love about Japan is Food. Everything is so delicious!!
Being an IHCWAY instructor is great, because IHCWAY has a great system. Most of the lessons are based on 1 to 1 individual lesson. It not only helps the student to learn more and it also encourages the student to speak more.
I used to teach at a cram school (Juku), so I know juku is not a best place to learn English. At the cram school, there are many students in one class. Therefore not all students in the class get to speak. Especially most of Japanese people are a bit shy, so in a bigger classroom, some students are too shy to speak infront of other students.
One advice for the every student. Don't be afraid to make mistakes! Also don't be shy. If you can conquer all these fears, you can learn English much faster.

感想
Hello everybody,
My name is Daniel, I am 25 years old and I am from Leipzig, Germany.
I live in Japan for about 9 months now and count the experience of living here as one of the most important and exciting times of my life so far.
Teaching for IHCWAY has been a major part of my stay here in Tokyo since the beginning and I thoroughly enjoy the time with my students. The private teaching method of IHCWAY not only gives the students a very individualized way to improve their English/German speaking skills, but also offers the unique opportunity for real cultural exchange for the student and the teacher, while learning English/German together.
Being a Japanese science major, I ask a lot of questions and my students are always eager to answer my questions about Japanese culture while I tell them about my experiences in America or how Germany is not about sausages and beer only.
I think it is the best way to improve your English skill by using it in a natural conversation like this. It keeps the learning of the language motivational and exciting.
Hope to meet you soon,

Daniel

Matane

感想
Hello everyone, my name is James Watson. I am 21 years old, and I am from The United States of America; more specifically, Wimberley, Texas.
I currently live in Yokohama, and study Japanese at a Japanese language school. I have been in Japan for about one year and three months, which, without a doubt, has been the most adventurous and spectacular of my life. I have seen and experienced so many new and unique things, and met many great people.
Ever since I was a high school student in Texas, I had a keen interest in Japan. After making Japanese friends, my interest only intensified. Luckily, one of my friends invited me to visit him in Japan during our winter vacation. I accepted, and had a spectacular time. Even then, I knew that I wanted to spend much more time in Japan; however I could have never imagined that I would actually be living here!
Compared to Japan, life in my hometown is very different. Located in central Texas, Wimberley is a very small, quaint tourist town with a population of only 3,797. It is surrounded by beautiful, green hills and mountains, and has numerous rivers flowing through it. Due to the large abundance of land in Texas, at my house, we have 7 horses, 7 cats, and 7 dogs, 2 chickens, and one fish. It is actually more like a zoo than a house!
Even though it is totally different from Texas, I really enjoy my life here in Japan. When I am not studying or working, I enjoy spending time with my friends and my wonderful girlfriend. I also enjoy cooking, karaoke, BMX, reading, and exploring the city of Yokohama!
Because I study Japanese, I understand how it feels to learn another language. I know how difficult it can be, yet I also know how rewarding it is. Because English is not an easy language, especially to many Japanese, my goal is to help anyone who wants to improve their English; be it reading, writing, listening, or conversation. Together, we can become better English speakers, and ultimately, better people!
Sincerely,

James Watson

Hi, I’m Karin. If you wish to improve your English skills, STUDY HARD!! Read, write, listen, and speak! Accent doesn't matter, but pronunciation does.
You don’t need to sound like a native speaker, talk slowly if you have to. The most important thing is to be understood! When you talk with someone who speaks English clearly, try to copy the way they speak while paying attention to their intonation and rhythm.
Always ask yourself why you need to and want to study English. Motivate yourself! It won’t happen overnight but if you put a lot of effort into it you WILL improve!!
Learning a new language is difficult and frustrating so be patient with yourself and don’t expect instant results. You’ll get there Have FUN while you’re at it!

First let me tell you how I learned to speak Japanese.
… Thank you very much to all the hoikuen mothers for taking me out to Karaoke!
Listening to Japanese songs and trying to sing it along was my best practice!
It is difficult and sometimes…boring just to be @ your desk trying to study for hours.
I learned my Japanese by singing and reading the caption.so if you started to feel tired setting@your desk all day,why don't you try what I did. It's fun and great way of practice and guess what?
The stress you thought you had? Well that's all gone, once you get the hang of it,you will find yourself singing and speaking so well!

How are you doing? Hope your summer has been going well despite hearing about the extreme heat in Japan. How are you doing? Hope your summer has been going well despite hearing about the extreme heat in Japan.
Here in LA we did have some hot days but recently the temperture has started to drop and it has become more comfortable.
I have a couple of news to report. This month therehas been some Japanese festivities happening in LA andneighboring areas. Last week we had the annual Tofufestival which showcased many restaurants and shopsthat served different kinds of tofu dishes.
Later inthe evening the Grand Parade took place. This year's parade was particularly special because it ended with the debut of a large Nebuta float imported from Aomoriprefecture. Do you know about the Nebuta festival andits floats? Many people came to the parade just to seethat float. The streets were jammed packed withpeople, and in fact the papers said that 15,000 people were in attendance that day! Although it was tiring topush through the crowds, it was still worth going andit was very exciting when the float made its appearance :)
Here are a couple of informative websites:

Talk to you later,Patty

Myself :
Hi! My name is Tobi, I'm pleased to meet you! (Douzo Yoroshiku!)
I have been in Japan for nearly a year now, and I can honestly say I enjoy it here. I have enjoyed many wonderful things about Japan, but the best thing about Japan is it's people!

I have met many wonderful Japanese people and enjoyed helping everyone of them improve their English skills and abilities. Previously, in Adelaide, I worked as an "Accounts Consultant" for the largest telephone company in Australia.
I am currently completing my full teaching qualifications and I teach people of all ages, from beginners to advanced. I can help you with any kind of English you want to focus on, English just for fun, for travel, for business, or even just to achieve a higher TOEIC score!
In my spare time I enjoy making music. ( I have played guitar for 18 years and I studied "Music Technology" at "Adelaide University" in my home city of Adelaide. Later, I studied "Electronic Arts" in Sydney, New South Wales.) -I also enjoy getting out and seeing different cities and places in Tokyo and Japan, and I enjoy eating lots of Japanese food!

I look forward to meeting you. I'm sure we can enjoy talking about lots of things, even if it is only one thing by one thing! (-"Hitotsuzutsu !") Also, I would like to sincerely wish you all the best in achieving your goals in learning English, and in Life!

Warm Regards,

Tobias De Visser

Adelaide :
The City of Adelaide has a population of around one million people. (1,000,000) It enjoys a Mediteranean climate during the warmer months (-Similar to Greece or Italy..) and has a very clean environment. Because pollution is so low, there is a popular tram which runs through the city and goes all the way to the beach.

This is Maria Arai. I came from the Philippines and have been teaching English for more than 9 years. If you are searching for a way to improve your communication skills, here are some tips that will give you a good starting point.

1) Study everyday

Try to set aside some time everyday for your studies, ideally when your brain is at its most receptive. It's better to study for 30 minutes everyday than for 3 hours once a week.

2) Review regularly

Go over each lesson several times, perhaps once in the morning. once in the evening and once several days later.

3) Set yourself targets

Setting reasonable targets is a good way to motivate yourself. You could set yourself a time limit or aim for a certain level of proficiency.

4) Focus on your interests

Once you have got to grips with the basic of the language, learn to talk about the things that interest you. In this way you are more likely to remember words, phrases and grammatical constructions you encounter.

5) Don't worry about making mistakes

You probably make the occasional mistake when speaking your native language, so, making mistakes in a foreign language is nothing to worry about. What matters is getting your message across, not whether you use all the right words. If you cannot think of the exact words, try using other ones. Learn how to say things like "How do you say ______________________________ in English?", "What's that called?", "What are they doing?" etc.

6) Learn vocabulary effectively

Vocabulary is the most essential element of communication. The more words you know, the more more you can say and understand.

7) Find ways to make language learning fun

This could involve songs, stories, jokes and anything else you can think of.

If you practice these tips each day and pretty soon they will be habits that come naturally . GOOD LUCK!
